Children victims of ill-treatment and violence

Context

In every country and every society, children are victims of physical, sexual and psychological violence. Nevertheless, these problems respond to multiple factors (individual, family, socio-cultural), and their resolution is thus complex. Thus, certain forms of mistreatment are often socially accepted as traditional forms of education.

BICE actions

No form of violence, ill-treatment or neglect against children and teenagers is justifiable or acceptable, nor can it be accepted as a traditional form of education. Furthermore, sexual abuse and exploitation damage children at their very core: their physical integrity and dignity as human beings. This conviction guides the actions initiated or supported by BICE around the world. They all tend to install a new model of adult-to-child relationships based on “careness” (as opposed to mistreatment). The participation of children is one of the principal pillars of this preventive approach.
