In Catalonia: in the present very tense social and economic environment, resilience is a phenomenon which the local population has a growing interest in.

Evidenced by the invitation of the Catalan foundation at Esplai in our R & D department.

The “Esplai” foundation in Girona conducts projects including socio educational or pedagogical training with varied local partners, such as the development of an accommodating solution for children expelled from schools. An acute need, because if you understand why some children cannot stay in school, only expelling them only moves the problem without solving it.

At the request of the foundation, BICE researcher Stefan Vanistaendel has conducted several workshops and conferences on resilience in Girona and Figueres on 9 and 10 May 10, 2012, on the topic "To believe that this is possible."

Over 300 people from the socio-educational professions were able to attend. The main focus of the conferences was the pragmatic exploration of meaning in life, as a fundamental element of resilience. This particular emphasis has been tried – in collaboration with the organizers – the most appropriate, given the very difficult social and economic context in Catalonia and Spain.

On this occasion, interviews were held with two journalists from two local Catalan weekly.
